Bethany had everything you could ask for. A condo that was (almost) paid off, a well paying job, and most importantly, a family. It all changed in a heart beat and she had to watch as her whole world crumbled around her and soon she found herself alone in a city of flesh-eating zombies.
Despite the overwhelming odds against her, Beth has managed to do what very few people have been able to do in this post-apocalyptic nation.
She has survived.
However, after coming across a young man with an unexpected trait, she finds herself torn between staying in the comfort and safety of her current routine or risking it all for the greater good of humanity.
As expected, there will be blood, guts, bodies and other unsightly dead things, you have been warned!
Slow pace,d but that's not a bad thing. We get to see the aftermath of the apocalypse, and a bit of insight into Beth as a character. Using Humphrey as a sounding board is a clever idea to get information across without overusing thought boxes. My one question is why did she have to come back for that door later? It's puzzled me every time I've read through. If she simply couldn't get it open, why didn't she use the crowbar? But then, if she's used it as a weapon for so long, I can see how this happens. In real life, things like that happen all the time- the obvious solution simply doesn't occur to someone. Happens to everyone, even in an apocalypse.
I like how all the zombies have a different look. Everyone is unique, and that's a lot of time and detail to put into something that appears only a few pages at most. it's attention to detail like that which really makes the comic. And hello, Magnus- I like the touch of him holding his shoulder to foreshadow the bite
@Shieldmaiden: Thank you for everything, it's so neat hearing the perspective from my readers!
To answer your question, Beth is pretty proficient in kicking down doors, and this one didn't even budge. She's really big on conserving energy where she can, so she'd rather move on to an easier room, then struggle with a difficult room.
We will be revisiting this room very soon, however >:3
